Mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff's recent remarks at a meeting of West Worcestershire Tories have exposed fears that the Tory Party is not making the progress they hoped for under Cameron.
Speaking before the selection of their controversial London based 'A' list candidate, Mr Luff said: "[The Conservatives] are still not trusted to be able to govern modern Britain. So we have to look and sound different if we are to win. We need more women and more ethnic candidates, and candidates from a generally broader background. It is not about political correctness but about image."
West Worcestershire Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt, said "His admission that the Tories are still not trusted to be able to govern modern Britain will cause considerable embarrassment in Worcestershire."
"The so called Cameron revolution is all about image, about looking and sounding different but very little to do with policies," added Mr Burt.
