More support has been announced for the "Save our NHS" march and rally scheduled for 11am next Saturday, 10th March in Priory Park, Malvern. Rally organiser and Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for West Worcestershire, Richard Burt, today said that Worcester GP, Dr John O'Driscoll will join Independent Health Concern MP, Dr Richard Taylor and Malvern health campaigner and town councillor, Pat Merrick on the march and rally.
Dr O'Driscoll, who is a member of the Local Medical Committee, will explain how exaggerated claims about health services that do not meet up to reality can lead to public dissatisfaction with the treatment they receive.
Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Minister, Norman Lamb MP, has expressed his support for the rally and called on local people to send a clear message to government about Whitehall mismanagement of local health services.
Mr Lamb said. "Patricia Hewitt claims she believes in local decision making, but the reality is very different, with everything dictated from the centre in Whitehall.
"I urge people to attend the Worcestershire NHS rally in Malvern on Saturday to add their voices to the call for more local control of our NHS services."
