35th Anniversary of Malvern & District Community Action

West Worcestershire's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt, praised the work of Malvern and District Community Action after attending a lunch to celebrate their 35th Anniversary held at the Holy Trinity Church, Malvern yesterday.
Richard Burt said: "The work of Community Action in helping to coordinate and run so many voluntary organisations over the years has helped to provide invaluable support in so many people's lives.
"Volunteer car and mini bus services, the resource centre, the volunteers bureau and the shop around service all help to provide invaluable lifelines for so many who would simply be marooned without the volunteer help they receive."
Mr Burt also said that the voluntary sector would have an even greater role to play in the future, but it was vital that organisations remained independent of government policy even if they relied increasingly on government funds to operate."
