West Worcestershire's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt led his team to victory in the 'Flying A' class of the Severn Trent Mountain Challenge last weekend. The twenty-one mile course in the Dark Peak National Park was completed in 6 hours 32 minutes, with the team of four coming home 25 minutes ahead of their nearest rivals.
Mr Burt, a former fell running and marathon champion said it was pleasing to win the event for the second year running and raise over £200 for WaterAid through sponsorship.
"The weather was kind, which meant the mountain rescue teams had a quiet day! I think this will be my last mountain challenge as I am beginning to feel the stress and strain on the knees, but it was good to go out on a winning note.
"Anyone who still wants to sponsor me can do it online by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/richardburt Donations will help provide clean water to some of the poorest people on the planet."
