Stranded pensioners in the Poolbrook area of Malvern look set to win their battle against bus service cuts following a recent decision to reduce the number 42 bus to a two hourly service.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt, who also wrote to bosses at the County Council, has heard that Transport planners will now liaise with the bus operators, First Bus Company with a view to changing the service to ensure the needs of the public are met.
The improved service will be introduced as soon as possible, within the constraints of the notice period required by the Traffic Commissioner.
Richard Burt said: "This is great news. We have yet to learn the precise details, but I feel sure that the reinstatement of an hourly bus service is the minimum needed.
"Stranded Poolbrook pensioners will again be able to do their shopping and attend doctors' appointments without facing up to a four hour round trip to travel less than a mile."
"I have already spoken to some residents and congratulated them on their campaign. It's just a tragedy that they had to fight these thoughtless cuts in the first place."
