The campaign to save Age Concern's 'Moving On' clubs from the threat of closure next year is gathering pace. Hundreds of signatures have already been collected and were presented to West Worcestershire's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt when he attended a fortnightly 'Moving On' club meeting at Strensham last week.
Mr Burt received the petitions from Ryall resident, Annie Tooke, including the signature of veteran TV campaigner Esther Rantzen, who Annie met recently in Malvern.
"I was able to tell Esther Rantzen of the plight of our clubs when she opened the Community Action Fair in Malvern, and she was only too pleased to sign our petition," said Annie.
"It's good to have such high profile support for the campaign," said Richard Burt.
"Everyone who can is chipping in to keep the seven clubs in Malvern Hills District going, but Age Concern really do need a longer term financial commitment to safeguard their future."
"These clubs are a lifeline for so many and must not be allowed to close," added Mr Burt.
