West Worcestershire's Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt has hailed the decision of the Secretary of State to reject National Grid plc's proposal to build a Pressure Reduction Installation at Corse.
The decision to refuse planning permission was announced last Friday following a lengthy public enquiry that ended in May.
Mr Burt, who made a statement to the enquiry opposing the application by National Grid, said he was delighted with the decision.
"This is a landmark decision and a triumph for all those involved with CAPRI - a David and Goliath struggle for local people, but the giant company have not been able to steamroller their plans through.
"The combination of technical expertise and the strength of public opinion that CAPRI was able to muster made a compelling argument on safety and environmental grounds, and has won the day," said Richard Burt.
