Customers at closure threatened post offices are being encouraged to pick up a postcard and send a message to the Post Office Consultation Team via Lib Dem parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt.
Richard and his Lib Dem colleagues have distributed colour postcards with pictures of Rushwick, Poolbrook, Link Top and Hanley Castle post offices to thousands of homes surrounding the branches, inviting people to write their message about the proposed closure and post the card from their local post office.
Sub-postmasters at the closure threatened branches are also encouraging customers to pick up a postcard from the counter and send a message to save their post office.
Richard said: "People are very angry about the prospect of losing their local post office. I wanted to involve customers and local residents around every one of the four threatened branches in West Worcestershire in an imaginative way.
"Producing the post cards has proved a real hit, with messages already beginning to flood in after just a few days. Some people are using their post office for the first time to send the postcard, so hopefully it will encourage more business too.
"It is quite clear that the government want a slimmed down postal network with no public subsidy. However, this takes no account of the vital service sub-postmasters provide to so many, particularly older and less mobile people without transport and local businesses for banking.
"We are also supporting petitions in post offices and encouraging people to write individually to argue the case for their local branch.
"It will be an uphill battle because the Government is determined to axe 2,500 more branches. As many people as possible should respond to the consultation to give their post office the best chance to survive.
