Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt attended the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy meeting on housing options at the Foley Arms in Malvern last night.
Speaking after the event, Richard said: "I'm afraid it's already too late for any change on the real issue facing residents across the county - that of excess housing numbers. These are not up for local negotiation because they have already been agreed by our Conservative controlled councils.
"As a result, all residents can now argue for is how to spread the load. The councils have come up with a plan to drop huge numbers of housing into green field locations with no guarantee of infrastructure provision from the government. They lacked the backbone to challenge this and we will now suffer the consequences.
"Why they did not put forward an alternative plan to revitalise village communities based on local, sustainable housing needs assessments is beyond me. With post offices, village shops and schools closing in all our parishes, new homes and new families would breath life back into these communities. Instead, they have been excluded from the plan."
