Pershore County Councillor Liz Tucker and Richard Burt, Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire last night presented the findings of a wide-ranging residents survey carried out in the town.
The audience at the Town Hall heard how residents had responded to questions about
• Crime and anti-social behaviour
• NHS treatment
• Last year's floods
• Pershore High Street enhancements
• 20 mph speed limits
• Housing needs and development proposals
• Roads and footways
• Car park charges
• Wheelie Bins
Almost 1000 responses have now been received to the survey, carried out house to house in the town over the past two months.
Liz Tucker said "We wanted to find out what people in the town really thought about local and national issues, so as to give me and Richard the chance to tackle the things that matter to people most. We also wanted to know what people thought about issues - such as the High Street - that have caused controversy."
"I'd like to thank everyone in the town who has taken part in the survey. "
Doctors from Pershore's two GP Practices attended and answered questions about out of hours services and the threat to dispensaries. Liz's husband, Councillor Charles Tucker, reported on current proposals for flood defences.
Richard Burt said: "Dr James Rankin and Dr Tom Pitts-Tucker from Pershore Medical Practice outlined the threat to GP dispensing in the town if government plans to reform dispensing go ahead.
"I know that they have written to patients and would encourage all who can to write in support of their local GP dispensaries before the consultation closes on 20th November."
