Cliff Slade
Local businessman and JP, Cliff Slade has been selected as the Liberal Democrat Candidate for Tenbury Division in the County Council elections next June.
Cliff will contest the seat following the retirement of long-serving County Councillor Reg Farmer, who will step down at the end of his term.
Cliff has lived in Tenbury Wells since 1975 and is Managing Director of a UK wide transport training business with offices in the centre of the town.
Well known locally, Cliff has been married to former Tenbury Carnival Queen, Julie for 25 years and they have two grown-up children. He served as a Special Constable for five years and as a Retained Fire Fighter in Tenbury for eleven years.
Local parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt said he was "delighted" that Cliff had been selected to fight the seat.
"I know Cliff has a proud record of action for the community in Tenbury and the surrounding villages. He really knows how to get things done and would be a great asset as a county councillor," said Richard.
Cliff commented: "I am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead and I put myself forward as I feel very strongly about Tenbury and surrounding villages being neglected, and want to champion local issues where it matters at county level. After all, I am local and living and growing up in this fantastic community deserves a local perspective."
Cliff is a former Tenbury High School pupil and the current President of Tenbury Town Band. He is also a Director of Worcester City Football Club.
