Tenbury's Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt will be joined by Tenbury businessman and county council candidate, Cliff Slade and his team on the next leg of Richard's 'walk for business' on Wednesday 11 February.
Richard and Cliff will be talking to business owners in the town and asking them to complete their small business survey, which can also be filled in online at www.richardburt.org
"We are entering the deepest recession in living memory and I want to find out what help businesses in Tenbury need to survive," said Richard.
"The number of people unemployed and registered for Job Seekers Allowance across Worcestershire shot up by 69% last December compared to December 2007. Job losses have hit Tenbury particularly hard recently."
Cliff said: "As a local businessman, I know how hard the recession will affect trade which is so crucial to the survival of our town. We want to find out what help owners want most to ride the storm.
"There are over sixty businesses supporting 200 jobs in the town centre. Flood defences would bring real security, so why can't the government invest in capital projects like this if they can afford to throw billions at failed banks?
"Businesses also need help in reducing fixed costs as incomes and profits fall. Councils can do a lot to help, but we want to find out what Tenbury people need most."
Results from the small business survey will also be sent to Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP and his Treasury team to help get the right government action.
"Government's failure to regulate banking and the disastrous consequences of City greed and recklessness have infected the real economy and are now being felt by us all," added Richard.
