Richard Burt today expressed his delight that Hook Bank Park residents, near Welland, will finally get a new post box ten months after the existing box was destroyed by a firework.
After several promises, the Post Office announced this summer that they would not be replacing the service, leaving residents on the Park fuming.
Richard stepped in and made a formal complaint to the Postal Review Panel on their behalf. He has now received a letter from the Panel telling him that, following a review and site visit, the decision has been reversed.
"I am clearly delighted that the box will now be replaced, as some older residents without transport would have faced a round trip of a mile to post urgent letters.
"It just seems incredible that the Post Office should use the excuse of a damaged box to try to remove this service in the first place."
