The new facility at Dyson Perrins CE High School in Malvern will be yet another addition to community sports centres across the district. Started by the Liberal Democrat-led District Council, the building project is planned for completion in the latter half of 2006.

The £434,000 funding from the District Council is matched with £868,000 grant from the New Opportunities Fund, with the school and Worcestershire County Council providing the site.

Cllr Clive Smith, District Council Portfolio Holder for Community Health and Well-being said: "The facility will be an outstanding new asset in our chain of sports centres. We have already seen 'Sport Martley' become a huge success in its rural area. 'Sport Dyson Perrins' will soon give Malvern Hills District urban residents a new opportunity to use quality sports facilities at a reasonable price"
