Housing Numbers From Hell

5.58.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 8th Jun 2008

Commenting on proposals to build 22,500 extra homes in Worcestershire, Local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt branded the figures as grossly excessive.

"Of course we desperately need more affordable homes and homes for rent in Worcestershire, but decided locally according to community needs, and not by central government dictat.

"These are housing numbers from hell that bear no relation to Worcestershire's need and do not take account of the economic slump and downturn in the jobs and housing market.

"Conservatives say they would change the system, but they have raised barely a whimper against these proposals and are simply carrying out the government's bidding," said Richard Burt.
