Burt Slams Malvern Hills Tories Over Joint Services Fiasco

8.10.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 16th Jul 2008

West Worcestershire's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt condemned the leadership of Malvern Hills District Council as "dithering" and "indecisive" as they pulled the plug on plans for shared service delivery with Worcester City Council.

Richard Burt said: "This decision comes as no surprise to those who know local government well - how could you successfully have two independent councils responsible for managing one workforce? - it was a recipe for disaster born out of desperation by both councils.

"Tory councillors have already wasted six months valuable time and effort in secret discussions on a dead duck.

"The Leadership of Malvern Hills District Council has proved to be dithering and indecisive and now seems incapable of delivering on public priorities.

"There was no crock of gold at the end of the rainbow, and they must now get their heads down and start delivering on their own manifesto pledges."
