New Tenbury Flood Report Welcomed

8.11.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 29th Jul 2008

Local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt has welcomed the prospect of a new Environment Agency flood defence assessment for Tenbury.

Mr Burt, who pressed Agency officials after last year's floods, said he was delighted to learn that a new assessment for the viability of flood defences for the town is expected soon.

Richard said: "I have spoken to the Agency's Area Flood Risk Manager, Anthony Perry who has assured me that a new flood risk assessment will be published within a matter of days.

"A great deal of good work has been done locally to bring this about and everyone concerned should be congratulated.

"Upton-upon-Severn secured funding for permanent flood defences after a prolonged local campaign. Tenbury must now do the same."
