West Midlands Liberal Democrat MEP, Liz Lynne met villagers in Kempsey protesting about plans proposed by councils forming the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy to build 3000 new houses on green space between St Peters and the village.

Liz Lynne took time out from attending her party's regional conference in Pershore on Saturday. She was invited by local parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt to hear peoples' views.

Liz Lynne MP said: "The housing numbers that have been agreed by local councils are unrealistic and would lead to the devastation of villages like Kempsey.

"Far more emphasis should be given to developing brown field sites in urban areas where regeneration is desperately needed, but of course the cheaper option is to build on green open spaces.

"I have listened carefully to the views of villagers and been shown documents and plans that illustrate the extent of possible development across Kempsey parish boundaries.

"I have encouraged villagers to seek support from all parties and work hard to defeat these proposals. I will certainly add my own views to the consultation process."
