Date Set For Meeting To Oppose Housing Plans

Leading Liberal Democrats are inviting community groups from across Malvern Hills district opposed to huge housing expansion in South Worcestershire to attend a special meeting to co-ordinate their campaign.

The meeting will take place in the Westminster Suite, Bank House Hotel, Bransford, starting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th May.

Local parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt and Councillor Tom Wells have called the meeting to unite opposition to 'preferred option' locations for thousands of new houses put forward by local councils.

"Residents from across the district are very angry about the imposition of these housing numbers and feel they have had very little real say in deciding on the locations.

"If communities stand together on this we will be a far more powerful voice to lobby councillors, ministers and officials before any final decisions are made.

"I hope as many as possible will come to the meeting to voice their opposition and help promote an alternative vision for housing development in South Worcestershire that local people can support," said Mr Burt.
