The Liberal Democrats launch their General Election campaign to win West Worcestershire
Liberal Democrat MP Wera Hobhouse joined parliamentary candidate Dan Boatright-Greene to launch their General Election campaign on Friday (Thursday 2nd February) at a dinner with activists in the constituency.
The Liberal Democrats are the clear challengers in the seat having come second at the 2019 General Election after a significant swing towards them. The seat was a marginal when the current Conservative MP was elected in 2010.
The Liberal Democrat campaign will focus on the Conservative government's poor record on protecting public services, with residents concerned about the pressures on NHS services and the consistent underfunding of education in Worcestershire. The cost-of-living crisis, soaring rent and mortgage costs and unfair tax rises that are hammering families across the country will also be at the top of the agenda.
Dan will also focus on local crime and the need to bring back local police stations, along with Harriett Baldwin’s record of repeatedly voting to allow water companies to dump their sewage in our rivers.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire Dan Boatright-Greene said:
“Wera is a fantastic constituency MP who not only represents her residents with commitment, but has repeatedly held the Conservative government to account over issues on the environment and the cost-of-living. Her private members bill to prevent workplace sexual harassment is exactly what a Liberal Democrat MP brings to parliament.”
“We know the Conservatives are looking over their shoulder at the threat posed by the Liberal Democrats at the next election. Our area has been let down and taken for granted by the Conservatives for too long. Residents are telling me they feel the country is heading in the wrong direction and that it’s time for a change.”
“They are sick of endless unfair tax rises, sewage dumping and our local police struggling to get to incidents while criminals are let off the hook. It is only the Liberal Democrats who can beat the Conservatives in West Worcestershire.”
