Margaret Rowley

Margaret has been a hard working local councillor representing Bowbrook Ward on
Wychavon District Council for the last 30 years. During that time she has built up a
reputation as a campaigner for local people.

Margaret has lived in Tibberton for 35 years. Before retiring she managed the staff
library and knowledge services for the NHS in Worcestershire. She is currently also
a member of Tibberton Parish Council, a Trustee of Tibberton Community Land Trust
and a governor of Hindlip and Tibberton First Schools.

As Chairman of Droitwich Canals Trust Margaret steered the canal restoration
project from a voluntary organisation seeking funding through to the final restoration
involving the local councils and British Waterways. She was instrumental in getting
the controlling Conservative Group on Wychavon District Council to reverse their
decision to close Droitwich Lido, and is currently campaigning with the Himbleton
Flood Forum for flood alleviation work on the Bow Brook. She is a founder member
of Tibberton Community Speed Watch and campaigns for improved road safety.

Margaret says “We desperately need change and new ideas on the County Council.
Years of Conservative failure have left the Council’s finances in tatters. The funding
gap has been estimated to be £33.6 million for the next financial year, rising to
£43.6m the year after. In addition, County Hall has been declared unfit for use. On
top of this the Government is requiring a complete change in local government to
take place in two years time.

“If elected I will work with my Liberal Democrat colleagues to bring a positive, more
community focused approach to Worcestershire County Council.”
