John Drage
My wife and I have lived in south Worcestershire for nine years. Before this I spent 8
years as lead Councillor for Resources on the Liberal Democrat run London Borough
of Sutton. The Liberal Democrats there, since taking control of the council in 1986,
have had an enviable reputation for providing excellent quality services and real
value for money.
If you elect me to Worcestershire County Council, I would draw on my past
experience to help improve the provision of services to you – especially Special
Educational Needs, transport and Green issues – whilst also providing better value
for money.
I have a degree in Economics and worked for the United Nations Children’s Fund
(UNICEF) and then the Bank of England.
As well as volunteering with the local Liberal Democrats, I am the Treasurer of our
village church, sing in its choir, volunteer in our community shop, serve as a Trustee
of the Friends of Worcester Cathedral and am a member of the bell ringing band at
Great Malvern Priory.
This is a beautiful area and, when our grandchildren come to visit, we love taking
them to Croome Park, Clive’s Fruit Farm and to walk by the River Severn in Upton.
