Roy Harmsworth

Roy moved to the county to join his partner, Sharon over thirteen years ago. He is a
veteran and joined the army at 16, serving in the Blues and Royals, Household
Calvary as a Musician and State Trumpeter. As well as being stationed in Germany,
Roy also had the opportunity to take part in state occasions like Trooping the Colour
and mounted guards at Horseguards Parade.

After leaving the army Roy has had a very successful IT career, specialising in
Cybersecurity. Having worked on projects with the Home Office, Department for
Work and Pensions, Ministry of Justrice, Passport Office and Ministry of Defence,
Roy has a strong understanding of how government works.

Roy says: “I have always been very community minded. I am currently volunteer for
various festivals and events, and I have used my professional experience to help
councils across the region improve their systems. As a county councillor I will take
the same hands-on approach.”
