Evesham South

Matt Jones

I grew up in the local area, with very fond memories of exploring Badsey and
Broadway in my summer holidays. When I finished school, I moved away to go to
University in Salford, where I became aware of some of the levels of poverty we
have in this country, and the damage that a poorly run local authority can do. I met
my wife in 2020 between Covid19 lockdowns and due to her declining health, we
decided to move back to the Evesham area.

I currently work from home as an Acoustic Consultant, who regularly challenges and
holds Local Authorities to account as part of my job. I also care for my wife who has
a number of disabilities. Through this, I gained a new found respect for those who
require care and professional carers themselves. As your Lib Dem councillor, I will
give voice to any care concerns you have, as I will likely have them myself. I also
care passionately about the open spaces and the local environment, and will be a
strong voice for farmers and those who look after and maintain our wonderful green
spaces.

Recently, it has become clear that the local conservative party is just as divided as
the parliamentary party. They take your votes for granted and never ask you for your
views. It is time for a change in Worcestershire, please be a part of that change. We
came so close in August when I stood as the candidate for Wychavon Council
representing Badsey. Only 22 votes separated me from the conservative councillor,
who has done a very poor job in representing you thus far. I promise to do better,
and as a Liberal Democrat Councillor, I will do better.
