I was born and raised in Upton upon Severn where my wider family remain. After
training as an engineer in Malvern I worked around the country and overseas for
many years before returning home to Worcestershire over 30 years ago and have
now lived in Lower Broadheath for 24 years.
Given my professional background, I am particularly interested in good quality, cost
effective public services. I want more open discussion as to the right balance
between the types and number of homes needed locally, with a need for more
affordable and social housing so that young people can live locally if they wish too.
Poor planning has led to too many homes being built in the wrong places and with
inadequate insulation standards.
I believe that for too long the complacent Conservative County Council has had no
effective opposition which has led to appalling standards in Adult Social Care and
Special Educational Needs provision, a lack of any clear strategy to support the fight
against climate change and the council now needing a financial bail-out from the
government to stop them going bankrupt!
With my wife I enjoy walking locally and visiting the many beautiful places in and
around the county.
